Resident and Student Outreach Committee
Develops SVS programs at the SVS Annual Meeting to encourage medical students and general surgery residents to consider a career in vascular surgery and continue to engage the next generation of vascular surgeons in the Society.
- Oversees the VAM scholarship program for general surgery residents and medical students.
- Oversees the general surgery residents and medical student sessions at the VAM.
- Promote the use of the SVS mentorship opportunities. Sets Metrics of Success for the Program and routinely evaluates outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with other volunteer groups to engage and involve young vascular surgeons and vascular surgery trainees in SVS activities including working with the Young Surgeons Section, APDVS and COVERS groups to develop ways to recruit more medical students and general surgery residents into vascular surgery.
- Reports annually to the Education Council on metrics of success outcomes.
