Leadership Development Committee
To identify, engage, and strengthen the leadership skills of future SVS leaders and strengthen the leadership skills of current and future leaders.
- Identify short-term, mid-term, and long-term goals for leadership activities/resources via a comprehensive and multi-faceted plan encompassing the Committee's charges.
- Leads and evaluates the Leadership Development Program (LDP) and the LDP Mastery Grant Program.
- Establishes leadership training resources/content/tools for members, with a focus on young surgeons, diversity, and other relevant segments of the membership.
- Review the Leadership Development Program applications and explore other possible leadership training programs and awards the Society could offer to help members further develop their careers.
- Identify ways to improve representation within the SVS leadership, committee structure, and the specialty for key segments of the membership.
- Collaborates with SCVS, VESS, the Clinical Practice Committee, Young Surgeons, and Women's Sections, and the Resident & Student Outreach Committee on common leadership goals and activities.
- Ensures that all educational programming that is for the CME adheres to all ACCME and ABMS accreditation requirements.
- Utilizes the Content Framework and the new Education Strategic Plan in the development of programming.
- Sets Metrics of Success for the Program and routinely evaluates outcomes.
- Reports annually to the Education Council on outcomes.
