SVS Councils and Committees Call for Volunteers
Applications Due: April 3, 2023
Thank you for your interest in serving on an SVS committee; your interest and contribution to the SVS is critical to the work of the Society. As a part of your application process, you will be required to complete a 2023 Conflict of Interest (COI) and Conflict of Commitment (COC) form. Before moving on to the application process, we request that you thoroughly read through the strict changes to the COI and COC policies.
Several SVS Committees oversee the development and implementation of CME activities and as such volunteers for this committee must adhere to The Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education. Per these requirements, owners, executives and employees of ineligible companies (formerly known as commercial interest) are considered to have unresolvable financial relationships and must be excluded from participating as planners or faculty. These individuals cannot influence or control any aspect of the planning, delivery, or evaluation of accredited continuing education, except in the limited circumstances outlined in Standard 3.2. All volunteers involved as planners or faculty will be required to disclose all financial relationships within the prior 24 months. Prior to volunteering, please take some time to identify those committees that have this requirement by reviewing their charges.
SVS is invested in a process that assures diversity, equity and inclusion at all levels, including representation within its boards, councils, and committees. We are seeking enthusiastic, eligible members from all aspects of gender, sexual orientation, age, ethnicity, geographic location and practice environment to apply and enrich our SVS resources. If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail governance@vascularsociety.org.
The Appointments Committee is comprised of the President, President-Elect, Vice President and representatives from the Diversity, Community Practice and Young Surgeons Committees. Regrettably, not all applicants can be appointed to a Committee as there are always many more applicants than open positions. If you do not receive an appointment this year please do not be discouraged, and try again.
