Committees and Conflicts

Committees and groups with special conflict-of-interest requirements:

Practice Guidelines and Reporting Standards	Chairs and Co-chairs may have no direct financial relationships with industry. Those who wish to serve have six months to terminate any direct financial relationships after appointment.	Majority of the writing group members may have no direct financial relationships with industry. Individuals with more than $50,000 in income in aggregate from industry may not serve.*
VAM Program Committee	Chairs and Co-chairs may have no direct financial relationships with industry. Those who wish to serve have six months to terminate any direct financial relationships after appointment.	Majority of the members of the committee may have no direct financial relationships with industry. Individuals with more than $50,000 in income in aggregate from industry may not serve.*
Postgraduate Education Committee	Chairs and Co-chairs may have no direct financial relationships with industry. Those who wish to serve have six months to terminate any direct financial relationships after appointment.	Majority of the members of the committee may have no direct financial relationships with industry. Individuals with more than $50,000 in income in aggregate from industry may not serve.*
Document Oversight Committee	Chairs and Co-chairs may have no direct financial relationships with industry. Those who wish to serve have six months to terminate any direct financial relationships after appointment.	Majority of the members of the committee may have no direct financial relationships with industry. Individuals with more than $50,000 in income in aggregate from industry may not serve.*
Conflict of Interest Committee	Chair may have no direct financial relationship with industry.	All committee members may have no direct financial relationships with industry.*
Quality & Performance Measures Committee	Chairs & Co-chairs may have no direct financial relationships with industry. Those who wish to serve have six months to terminate any direct financial relationships after appointment.	Majority of the members of the committee may have no direct financial relationships with industry. Individuals with more than $50,000 in income in aggregate from industry may not serve.*
Outcomes & Tech Assessment Committee	Chairs & Co-chairs may have no direct financial relationships with industry. Those who wish to serve have six months to terminate any direct financial relationships after appointment.	Majority of the members of the committee may have no direct financial relationships with industry. Individuals with more than $50,000 in income in aggregate from industry may not serve.*
SVS Officers	Officers may have no direct financial relationships with industry. Those who wish to serve have six months to terminate any direct financial relationships after election.	*
JVS Publications Editors	Editors may have no direct financial relationships with industry (includes senior editors, associate editors and assistant editors). Editors should terminate any direct financial relationships within six months of their appointment.	*
Rutherford Editors	Editors may have no direct financial relationships with industry. Editors should terminate any direct financial relationships within six months of their appointment.	*
VESAP Editors	Editors may have no direct financial relationships with industry. Editors should terminate any direct financial relationships within six months of their appointment.	*

1.	The threshold for an individual to be considered conflict-free is zero income.
2.	A direct financial relationship is a compensated relationship held by an individual that should generate an IRS Form W-2, 1099 or equivalent income report.
3.	Chairs, Officers, Editors, and Committee/Writing Group members may accept research support as long as grant money is paid to the institution (e.g., academic medical center) where the research is conducted, not to the individual. Research support, uncompensated services and other permitted relationships should nevertheless be disclosed to the Society.
