Government Relations Committee
Oversees SVS government relations activities, including monitoring all federal legislative and regulatory issues affecting vascular surgery and assisting in the design and implementation of various advocacy-related programs to increase SVS member engagement.
- Collaborate with partner committees within the Advocacy Engagement and Policy Council and SVS leadership to develop SVS positions on legislative and regulatory issues that impact vascular surgeons and their patients.
- Engage in advocacy efforts on issues of importance to vascular surgeons and pateints through education of SVS members, public messaging, and engagement of legislators and regulators.
- Collaborate and leverage the SVS PAC & Political Engagement Subcommittee to strengthen SVS' efforts and programs relating to the development of robust grassroots, grasstops, and political networking. These programs are designed to promote engagement with key policymakers via both in-person and verbal events/activities.
- Monitor and anticipate important developments in health care policy and identify opportunities to promote SVS priorities.
- Develop advocacy messaging through use of the SVS platforms, including the SVS website, SVS Connect, Vascular Specialist, Pulse, DC Update, and letters to membership, including ongoing work to leverage the impact of this messaging through coordinated social media campaigns.
- Participate, with other Council committees, in the analysis of various regulatory Rules and develop formal comments representing the SVS for submission to CMS or other agencies.
