Call for Applicants: SVS Councilor to the World Federation of Vascular Societies (WFVS)
The Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS) seeks an engaged, Active member with a passion for international collaboration to serve as one of two SVS councilors to the World Federation of Vascular Societies (WFVS). This is a unique opportunity to contribute to global advancements in vascular care and build relationships with vascular societies worldwide.
About the WFVS
Founded in 2007, the World Federation of Vascular Societies (WFVS) aims to improve the quality of care for vascular patients worldwide by fostering the exchange of scientific and educational knowledge on vascular diseases. The WFVS consists of leading vascular societies across the globe, including:
- Australia and New Zealand Society for Vascular Surgery (ANZSVS)
- European Society for Vascular Surgery (ESVS)
- Latin-American Association for Vascular Surgery (ALCVA)
- Japanese Society for Vascular Surgery (JSVS)
- Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS)
- Vascular Society of India (VSI)
- Vascular Society for Southern Africa (VASSA)
Each member society appoints two councilors to serve a two-year term, with the option to renew for an additional term. As an SVS councilor to the WFVS, you’ll join a dedicated team of leaders, including WFVS Secretary General Palma Shaw, MD, and current Councilor Wei Zhou, MD, in advancing the Federation’s mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend two semi-annual virtual Council meetings (Spring and Fall).
- Participate in WFVS events such as the WFVS session at the Vascular Annual Meeting, VEITHSymposium, and the Annual WFVS session.
- Contribute to the WFVS Quarterly Newsletter, providing updates on activities within the SVS and other member societies.
Who Should Apply
Applicants should be active SVS members in good standing, have experience in global health initiatives, and have a demonstrated ability to build relationships with international vascular societies. A passion for advancing global vascular care is essential.
