Two big initiatives and enhancements are on tap for the Vascular Quality Initiative for 2018:
- Adding 30-day follow-up to VQI registries.
- Improving overall reporting by adding a physician-level dashboard and additional risk-adjusted measures to semi-annual benchmarking reports.
"These are big enhancements that our members will welcome," said Jens Eldrup-Jorgensen, MD, PSO medical director. "The addition of 30-day follow-up, in addition to the VQI’s well established one-year follow-up, will enable VQI members to report on 30-day readmissions and other outcome measures. This is something members have been asking for, and we’re excited to provide it."Dr. Eldrup-Jorgensen anticipates enhanced reporting and dashboards to be ready to debut in the spring. "The dashboard greatly expands the number of outcome metrics to be reported to physicians and the semi-annual reports used at our Regional Quality Meetings will now contain a greater number of risk-adjusted measures, within each registry," he said. These reports then can be incorporated into semi-annual reports.
VQI is a network of regional quality groups. It works to improve the quality, safety, effectiveness and cost of vascular health care by collecting, analyzing and sharing data on pre-operative risk factors, intra-procedural variables, post-procedural outcomes and one-year follow-up data.
Dates Changed for VQI Annual Meeting
VQI@VAM, the Vascular Quality Initiative’s annual meeting, is changing meeting days for 2018.
Instead of taking place the day before and the first day of the Vascular Annual Meeting, VQI will hold a full day of talks on quality initiatives on VAM’s opening day, Wednesday, June 20. Discussions and sessions for data managers – either a half- or full day – will follow on Thursday, June 21.
The Vascular Annual Meeting will be June 20 to 23 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston. Plenary sessions are June 21-23 and exhibits are June 21-22. The VQI meeting abstract submission site will open in late November or early December.
