Overview

Vascular surgeons and their support staff need to maintain knowledge and competence for appropriate billing and coding procedures. The SVS Coding & Reimbursement Workshop is an intensive program designed to provide a comprehensive review of current coding and reimbursement information, including critical updates vital to anyone who wants to become an expert in vascular coding. 

(Optional) Half-day E/M Coding Workshop*

The SVS Evaluation and Management (E/M) Coding Workshop is designed to support vascular surgeons and their staff to maintain knowledge and competence for one of the most challenging areas for coders. This workshop will focus on coding and documentation rules for choosing a correct E/M category and level of service, specifically for the vascular surgeon. 

*The optional half-day E/M Coding Workshop can be added for an additional fee when registering for the Coding & Reimbursement Workshop.

Learning Objectives - E/M Workshop

By participating in this CME activity, the learner will be able to:

  • Describe the coding and documentation rules for key E/M categories
  • Identify the difference between Medicare and private payers as related to E/M coding
  • Understand the documentation requirements for the history, exam and medical decision making components for an E/M service
  • Discuss the correct use of E/M modifiers in vascular surgery 

Learning Objectives - Coding & Reimbursement Workshop

By participating in this CME activity, the learner will be able to:

  • Discuss the CPT and Medicare changes
  • Demonstrate the application of modifiers for streamlined reimbursement
  • Define the Global Surgical Package and how it impacts billing and reimbursement 
  • Understand the principle of component-coding
  • Discuss the correct coding for key endovascular and open vascular procedures 

Who Should Attend?

This workshop is designed for vascular surgeons and their office staff including practice managers, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, surgery schedulers, coders, and others who seek to improve and expand their knowledge of accurate coding and reimbursement for vascular surgery. 

Please note this course is ideal for vascular trainees, vascular fellows, and vascular surgeons as the level of the content is intermediate to advanced.
