Vanderbilt University Medical Center – Nashville, TN

Sponsored by Outside Organization

Deadline: December 1, 2025

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is pleased to announce the recent ACGME approval of an additional position within our distinguished Vascular Surgery Fellowship Program, expanding to alternate between one and two fellows per class.

With a 40-year legacy of excellence—our first fellow trained in 1985—VUMC has a long-standing history of preparing the next generation of vascular surgeons for success in both academic and community practice.

Program Highlights

  • Single-site training: Approximately 85% of the fellowship experience occurs at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, with the remaining 15% at the Nashville VA Medical Center, conveniently connected via walkway. This structure minimizes travel and allows fellows to focus on developing advanced surgical skills.
  • Exceptional clinical exposure: Fellows participate in over 1,500 cases during the two-year training period, encompassing the full spectrum of open and endovascular vascular surgery.
  • Expert faculty: The program is led by ten experienced vascular surgeons, six with over 20 years of clinical and teaching experience, dedicated to mentorship and surgical education.
  • Balanced training environment: Fellows share call responsibilities with three general surgery residents, promoting wellness, balance, and professional sustainability throughout training.
  • Career preparation: Graduates are well-prepared to pursue careers in academic medicine or community practice, supported by robust operative experience and professional development opportunities.
