Research & Quality
Our members are leaders in vascular research. We encourage the interest and development of investigators by providing a forum for collaboration and dissemination of advancements in clinical, outcomes, comparative effectiveness, translational, and basic science research.
The Society offers several different types of clinical practice documents, such as guidelines, reporting standards, and mutli-specialty consensus documents to assist our members in providing the best care for patients.
SVS is dedicated to helping members provide the highest quality of care possible to their patients. The Vascular Quality Initiative® improves the quality, safety, effectiveness and cost of vascular health care by collecting, analyzing and sharing clinical data.
SVS research activities, resources and educational programs include awards and scholarship opportunities offered by SVS and SVS Foundation and the annual Vascular Research Initiatives Conference where vascular surgeon investigators and scientists vascular biology-related disciplines present their leading-edge work in basic science and translational research.

Research Awards from SVS Foundation
SVS Foundation awards for vascular surgeon scientists to help develop their careers in research.
Clinical Research
SVS is focused on increasing the role of vascular surgery in clinical research trials, supporting the vascular surgery researcher, and encouraging research in critical areas of vascular disease.
Clinical Practice Guidelines
The Society's guidelines evaluate the evidence in the scientific literature, assess the likely benefits and harms of a particular treatment and enable healthcare providers to select the best care for a unique patient based on his or her preferences.
Research Opportunities
NIH T32 Research Training Grant programs, summer programs, and other opportunities for trainees and medical students interested in basic science research or clinical and translational research in vascular disease.
Vascular Quality Initiative
The Vascular Quality Initiative® improves the quality, safety, effectiveness and cost of vascular health care by collecting, analyzing and sharing clinical data.
QPP and MACRA
MACRA is bipartisan legislation which repealed the Sustainable Growth Rate and established the Quality Payment Program (QPP). The QPP requires that most physicians who submit claims to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) participate in one of two programs: Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) or Advanced Alternative Payment Model (APM).
VQI Regional Quality Groups
VQI Regional Quality Groups
A key component of VQI, regional quality group participants share and analyze collected data to initiate quality improvement projects to reduce complications, readmissions, and length of stay.
