Call for Volunteers: Join the VESAP7 Planning Group

SVS is seeking member volunteers for the new VESAP7 Planning Group which will oversee the development of VESAP7 for release in early March 2027. Please read all the important information below before applying.

Available Roles

The structure of the group will consist of two (2) Editors-In-Chief and thirteen (13) Section Leads.

  • Editors-in-Chief (EICs) - Oversee the entire program development, review and approve questions, and provide guidance to Section Leads.
  • Section Leads - Lead volunteer item writers in reviewing, updating, and creating assessment questions for assigned topic. 

Experience Sought

  • EIC candidates must have experience writing assessment questions.
  • It is preferred that Section Lead candidates have some experience writing assessment questions.

Statement of Interest

When filling out the Statement of Interest section of the application, please ensure you address all of the following:

  1. Role Preference
    Clearly indicate whether you are applying for a specific role or are open to being considered for multiple roles.

  2. Relevant Experience
    Describe your experience in developing assessment questions, including for past editions of VESAP. Be sure to highlight any work involving the creation, review, or validation of such materials.

  3. Access to Vascular Lab
    Specify if you have access to a vascular lab and can produce or provide vascular imaging.

Time Commitment

  • Develop VESAP7 from October 2025 to November 2026.
  • All work is remote and participate in early October VESAP7 kick-off call, and other conference calls as needed during the VESAP7 project.
  • Work with SVS staff to complete milestones according to the established project timeline:
    • October to November 2025, Phase 1 - Approximately 5-8 hours per month will need to be dedicated to review and update as needed selected VESAP6 questions to repurpose.
      • November to December 2025 – EICs review and approved updated VESAP6 questions to repurpose.
    • December 2025 to May 2026, Phase 2 - Approximately 8-10 hours per month will need to be dedicated to write, peer review, and approve new VESAP7 questions for EICs review.
      • May to July 2026 - EICs review new questions approved by Section Leads. Questions sent to medical editor to polish as reviewed/approved by EICs.
    • September to November 2026 – EICs receive all questions (VESAP6 and polished VESAP7 new questions) for final review, selection, and approval.

Key Responsibilities by Role

  • EICs:
    • Confirm the VESAP7 outline.
    • Confirm VESA6 questions to repurpose.
    • Assign section topic to Section Leads and item writers.
    • Participate in touch-base calls with SVS staff as needed and lead calls for each program phase.
    • Review, edit, and approve questions at the end of each project phase.
    • Review and make final selection of all questions for the program.
    • Communicate with Section Leads to provide guidance and address questions that may arise during the project.
  • Section Leads:
    • Work with section group to review, update as needed, and map selected VESAP6 questions to repurpose.
    • Write and peer review new VESAP7 questions.
    • Make section group final decisions/edits on questions (repurposed and new) before submitting for EICs’ review and approval.
    • Ensure compliance of item writers and of the repurposed and new questions with guidelines provided.
    • Provide timely responses to queries from the EICs and SVS Staff
