SVS Launches Task Force on Future of Vascular Surgery

May 30, 2018

The SVS is now recruiting volunteers to serve on a new Task Force to be chaired by President-elect Michel Makaroun, MD.

The Task Force on the Future of Vascular Surgery will examine a number of critical trends shaping the specialty of vascular surgery. The initial focus will be on two primary challenges:

1) Amplifying the vascular surgery work force to address the needs of a growing population requiring vascular prevention, diagnosis and treatment; and

2) Documenting the mission and economic value of vascular surgeons and vascular services

The Task Force is seeking a diverse group of volunteers, members of which enjoy the challenge of complex problem-solving and are oriented to generating plausible solutions for implementation. Previous experience working at a strategic level or with strategic plan implementation is helpful. The SVS is seeking volunteers who will represent a diversity of practice types and settings, career stages and perspectives.

The majority of work will be done by conference call, although one to two face-to-face meetings at various vascular conferences are likely.

If you are interested in serving, please send a brief e-mail to Elsa Hall, Administrator, Executive Office/Governance Activities at the SVS (ehall@vascularsociety.org), with a brief paragraph outlining your interest and relevant experience.

The SVS thanks you in advance for your consideration.
