As an active duty Air Force vascular surgeon – I am currently stationed in San Antonio, Texas, with the privilege and honor of working remotely in Central Texas with the veteran population. Working at a VA hospital has allowed me to keep up with the full breadth of my vascular skill set while also caring for those who served their country before me.
I finished my intergraded vascular residency at UC Davis in 2019, a combined civilian-military program with Travis Air Force Base. I spent 1/3 of my training at David Grant Medical Center – and had the amazing opportunity to learn from many spectacular military surgeons – including retired Col David Dawson, retired Col Darrin Clouse, Retired Col Joseph DuBose, Col James Sampson, Col Shaun Gifford, and many others!
How did I decide to join the Air Force? During a trip to Israel in 2009 – I met with several members of the Israeli Defense Forces who shared their military experience. They spoke of the opportunities it provided, and their love and dedication for their country. Once back in the states, I did my own research and applied for the Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP). I then attended Drexel University College of Medicine on this Air Force scholarship.
It has been a great opportunity so far and has brought my family to parts of the country I likely would have never been if I had taken a different path.
I am continually honored to serve and care for those who serve beside me!
