The American Board of Surgery (ABS) seeks nominations for vascular surgeons to serve on its council for a six-year term, beginning on July 1, 2025. Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS) members interested in this role should have experience as program directors or in private practice. The ABS encourages candidates with expertise in emerging areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), simulation applications, outcome research methodologies and big data.
The deadline for submissions is Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 4:30 p.m., Eastern Time.
Council members will serve on one of five ABS specialty boards, including the Vascular Surgery Board, and will participate in one or more of five council committees. The time commitment for the role is approximately eight days of in-person meetings and an additional eight to 12 virtual meetings annually over the six-year term.
To apply, SVS members should complete the ABS council candidate/nominee form and notify SVS for consideration of a Society endorsement by visiting vascular.org/ABSnominations. Nominations can be made by societies, peers, or through self-nomination, and all candidates must secure a letter of support from an organization or an ABMS-certified physician.
