RFA for JVS-VL Associate Editor/Social Media Editor

Summary
The Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Vascular Surgery Venous and Lymphatic Disorders (JVS-VL) requests applications for the Associate Editor/Social Media Editor position. Prior service on the Editorial Board of the JVS-VL or other JVS publications is preferable but not required. The individual must be an Active or Senior Member of the Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS), and demonstrate previous scholarly activity through peer reviewing or publishing. Additionally, applicants for this role should demonstrate interest in Social Media and its application in academic publishing.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, Editors will act on approximately 150 submissions a year, which includes assigning reviewers, evaluating the reviews, communicating with authors, evaluating authors' responses, and making recommendations to the editor-in-chief on final manuscript publication. Applicants must also be able to attend regular virtual editorial meetings with journal staff and editors. Additional Social Media duties include:
- handling the JVS-VL social media accounts,
- regular collaboration with the other JVS social media editors and SVS/Elsevier marketing teams, and
- developing new promotional campaigns for the journal.
Conflict of Interest
Per the SVS Policy on Conflict, JVS editors may have no direct financial relationships with industry during their terms of service. A direct financial relationship is a compensated relationship that should generate an IRS Form W-2, 1099, or equivalent income report. If the successful applicant currently has direct financial relationships with industry, these relationships must be terminated within six months of initial appointment.
NB: JVS editors may accept research support as long as funds are allocated to the institution where the research is being conducted, not directly to the individual. In all cases industry-sponsored research support, uncompensated services, and other permitted relationships must be disclosed to the SVS.
