Froedtert & MCW Froedtert Hospital receives national verification from the American College of Surgeons Vascular Verification Program
CHICAGO (November 18, 2025): Froedtert Hospital, the academic medical center of the Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin health network in Milwaukee, WI, has been recognized by the American College of Surgeons (ACS), in collaboration with the Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS), as both an ACS Surgical Quality Partner and a Comprehensive Inpatient Vascular-VP Hospital—the first hospital in Wisconsin to earn this distinction. This prestigious recognition, awarded through the Vascular Verification Program (Vascular-VP), demonstrates Froedtert Hospital’s commitment to meeting the highest national standards for vascular care and surgical quality, delivering exceptional treatment for patients undergoing vascular surgical and interventional care, and continuously improving outcomes.
“Achieving Vascular Verification from the American College of Surgeons and the Society for Vascular Surgery is a testament to our team’s unwavering commitment to excellence in patient care,” said Peter Rossi, MD, associate director of the Heart and Vascular Service Line for the Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin health network and division chief of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin. “This recognition reflects the skill, collaboration and dedication of our multidisciplinary team in providing the highest standards of vascular care to our community. We are proud to meet – and exceed – the rigorous national benchmarks that ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.” Vascular-VP is an ACS Quality Program developed with the SVS and leverages the strengths and expertise of the ACS and SVS to provide an evidence-driven, standardized pathway for instituting and growing a quality improvement and clinical care infrastructure within a center’s vascular program.
Meeting the Highest Standards of Care
The Vascular-VP offers two levels of participation for inpatient centers. Both are built on a foundation of quality metrics in program, facility, and service resources, as well as data collection and quality improvement activities. To become verified, this hospital has met the standards outlined in the Optimal Resources for Vascular Surgery and Interventional Care - Inpatient Standards, which addresses elements of vascular surgical care and quality.
Becoming an ACS Surgical Quality Partner
As a Vascular-VP verified center, this hospital has also become an ACS Surgical Quality Partner. Being an ACS Surgical Quality Partner signifies a hospital’s dedication to consistently improving procedures and approaches while maintaining a critical eye on process at every step. The Surgical Quality Partner designation lets patients know a hospital is dedicated to quality and relentless self-improvement and has been verified or accredited by the ACS. Patients can trust that the care they receive at Surgical Quality Partner hospitals adheres to the most rigorous standards in surgical and procedural quality.
Hospitals interested in becoming a verified center and continuing the quality improvement journey of their vascular service are encouraged to apply online. More information about Vascular-VP is available on the ACS website.
