University of Utah Integrated Vascular Surgery Residency PGY 2

Sponsored by Outside Organization

The newly established Vascular Surgery Residency Program in the Division of Vascular Surgery at the University of Utah is seeking a highly motivated and qualified PGY-2 resident to join our vascular surgery training program beginning July 1, 2027.

About

Our program is committed to developing outstanding vascular surgeons through comprehensive training in open vascular surgery, endovascular intervention, complex aortic surgery, limb salvage, dialysis access, cerebrovascular disease, and vascular trauma. We are the only academic institution serving the Intermountain West, allowing for a rich and diverse clinical exposure. The primary training experience occurs at the University of Utah health campus between the main hospital, Primary Children’s Hospital and Veterans Administration. Uniquely, we partner with a local private practice group and a team in rural Idaho to further diversify clinical training opportunities. Residents work closely with faculty in a collaborative, academically focused environment with progressive responsibility and operative entrustment commensurate with their level of training.

A successful Vascular Surgery Resident will:

  • Complete at least one year of ACGME-accredited surgical residency by June 2027.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm for learning high-quality, collaborative vascular surgical care.
  • Be a mature trainee leader in establishing a positive and effective learning environment in a new residency program in partnership with program leadership.
  • Engage actively in education, research, quality improvement, and lifelong learning.
  • Provide safe, compassionate, evidence-based care to patients with vascular disease.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, faculty, and healthcare professionals.
  • Function effectively as a member of multidisciplinary clinical teams.
  • Demonstrate accountability, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
  • Embrace innovation and curiosity in clinical care and investigation.
  • Progress toward the competencies required for independent practice as a vascular surgeon.

This residency position provides comprehensive training in the diagnosis and treatment of vascular disease, including open surgical, endovascular, and hybrid approaches. Residents work closely with experienced vascular surgeons and multidisciplinary teams while caring for patients with routine, complex, and emergent vascular conditions.

Salt Lake City also offers an exceptional quality of life, with convenient access to world-class outdoor recreation and a vibrant metropolitan environment.
