Position Overview:
The Journal of Vascular Surgery (JVS) is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to join our editorial team as the Assistant Editor for Social Media and Community Engagement. This role is pivotal in enhancing our online presence, fostering community engagement, and promoting our content across various platforms.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key tasks:
- Social Media Management:
- Manage and expand JVS’s social media presence, with a focus on Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
- Curate and create engaging content to promote JVS journal content and amplify the social media presence of other JVS journals and SVS content.
- Collaborate with social media editors across the JVS portfolio to promote best practices and develop strategies for effective community engagement.
- Visual Abstract Production:
- Produce a set of visually appealing and accurate visual abstracts for recently accepted articles in the JVS and JVS-Venous and Lymphatic Disorders on a monthly basis.
- Community Engagement:
- Coordinate the monthly online Journal Club meetings.
- Coordinate the JVS’s collaboration with the Audible Bleeding podcast.
Qualifications:
The successful applicant will demonstrate an active interest in the scholarly activity of the JVS journals. Prior service on the Editorial Board of one or more of the JVS journals is preferred but not required. Applicants should demonstrate an interest in the development and management of a social media presence and should have experience creating content in a variety of platforms and media. Basic familiarity and experience with graphic design tools/software is required for this role.
A quarterly financial stipend is provided for this position. Appointment will be for a 3-year term commencing July 1, 2024, with the option to serve a second 3-year term conditional on performance and interest.
