Missing SVS Emails? Here's How to Make Sure You Don't Miss Important Updates

Oct 23, 2026

Your email provider may be filtering SVS communications into other folders. Learn where to look and how to update your settings.

Haven't seen an SVS email in a while? You may be receiving them without realizing it.

Email providers such as Microsoft Outlook, Gmail and Apple Mail have introduced or expanded features that automatically organize incoming messages into different folders or categories. As a result, SVS newsletters, educational and award opportunities, news and other important member communications may appear in your Promotions, Updates or Junk folders instead of your primary inbox.

Some hospitals, universities and healthcare institutions also have email filtering systems that may affect how messages are delivered or displayed.

To make sure you don't miss important SVS updates, we encourage you to check your email folders and review your inbox settings.

How to Find SVS Emails and Update Your Settings

Microsoft Outlook

If you use Outlook through your hospital, university or another institution, your email may be automatically organized into additional folders, including Promotions or Junk.

What you can do:

  • Check your Promotions, Junk Email and Other folders, if available, for SVS messages.
  • If you find an SVS email in Promotions:
    • Right-click the message and select Move > Inbox, or drag the message directly into your Inbox.
    • Moving messages to your Inbox may help Outlook recognize that you want to receive future SVS communications there.
  • If you find an SVS email in Junk
    • Right-click the message and select Not Junk or Not Spam, depending on your version of Outlook.
    • Add SVS to your Safe Senders list:
      • In new Outlook or Outlook on the web, select Settings > Mail > Junk email.
      • Under Safe senders and domains, select Add safe sender, enter vascularsociety.org and save your changes.
      • If you're using classic Outlook, follow Microsoft's instructions for adding Safe Senders.

Your institution may manage some settings, so you may need to contact your IT department if emails continue to be filtered.

Gmail

Gmail automatically sorts messages into categories such as Primary, Promotions, Social and Updates. SVS emails may be arriving in one of these tabs rather than your main inbox.

What you can do:

  • Open Gmail and check your Promotions and Updates tabs.
  • If you find an SVS email outside your Primary inbox, drag it into the Primary tab to help Gmail recognize your preference.
    • On a computer, drag the message into the Primary tab. This helps Gmail learn where you'd prefer to receive similar emails.
  • If you find an SVS email in Spam, select Not spam.
  • Consider adding SVS to your Google Contacts.
    • Company Name: Society for Vascular Surgery
    • Email: communications@vascularsociety.org

Apple Mail (iPhone, iPad and Mac)

Apple Mail can automatically organize incoming messages into Primary, Transactions, Updates and Promotions categories. SVS newsletters and announcements may appear under Updates or Promotions.

What you can do:

  • Open the Mail app and review your Updates and Promotions categories, if available.
  • On an iPhone or iPad:
    • Open an SVS email, tap the More (…) button and select Categorize Sender.
    • Choose Primary, then tap Continue. Future emails from that sender will appear in your Primary inbox.
  • On a Mac:
    • Right-click an SVS email and select Categorize Sender > Primary.

Still Not Finding SVS Emails?

If you cannot find SVS emails in any of your folders, we're happy to help!

Contact SVS at communications@vascularsociety.org so we can check your email subscription status. If you've been unsubscribed, we can help you resubscribe to the communications you'd like to receive.

If you're subscribed but still not receiving emails, your hospital, university or institution's email security settings may be blocking or quarantining messages. In this case, we recommend contacting your IT department and asking them to review emails from SVS. You can also switch your work email address to a personal one if you prefer.
