SVAC Research Seed Grant

Submissions are accepted Oct. 12 - Nov. 9.

Grant Information

The Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS) Section on Vascular Ambulatory Care (SVAC) Research Seed Grant’s goal is to provide vascular surgeons with funds for research for actionable insights, quality improvement, and patient care. This grant supports research conducted in OBLs or ASCs and outpatient vascular practices.

One recipient will be selected to receive a $10,000 grant. This grant is renewable for a second year, based upon first-year outcomes. A progress report will be required, and the SVAC Awards Work Group will review the project results.

The grant will be distributed over the course of four quarters, and grantees will be required to present updates about their research once per quarter to the SVAC Awards Work Group.

This grant is separate from the SVAC Presentation Award. Applicants can apply for both the Grant and subsequently the Presentation Award after the research is complete.

Eligibility

The physician applicant responsible for the grant must be an SVS Active or Candidate Member practicing in an OBL, ASC or outpatient vascular practice. Trainees, fellows and residents are eligible.

SVAC is invested in a process that assures diversity, equity and inclusion for this award and scholarship opportunities. We encourage enthusiastic, eligible applicants from all aspects of gender, sexual orientation and ethnicity to apply.

Application Process

Criteria and Review Process

Applications will be reviewed by the SVAC Awards Work Group.

The criteria on which funding decisions will be made include:

  • How the research will positively impact care and/or procedures provided in the OBL or ASC
  • Why the research is necessary
  • Will the research benefit patients, physicians, payors, and the healthcare system at large
  • Examples of possible topics include not only procedure-based outcomes but also new innovations such as drug-eluting technology, insurance authorizations, enhanced recovery pathways, nursing care, education, training, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), the role of advanced practice providers and patient safety.

Priority will be given to projects that address communities experiencing the greatest health disparities, particularly those that incorporate community partnerships. Reviewers will also consider the significance and innovative nature of the proposed project in advancing vascular health, awareness, and prevention.

Presentation of Award

Recipients will have an opportunity to present their findings.

SVAC may include information about the grant in promotional materials.
