The SVS is seeking cases considered for presentation during VAM24 Education Sessions. Cases will be accepted until April 15 at 3 p.m. CT. Review each session details below and start preparing your case(s) for submission.

Intraoperative Vascular Emergencies

Purposes  The session aims to review the most common emergency intraoperative vascular surgery consultations and explore the trends in intraoperative vascular surgery consultation over time.

Objectives – The goal of this session is to review the most common emergency intraoperative vascular surgery consultations, explore the trends in intraoperative vascular surgery consultation over time, layout a framework for the approach to emergency intraoperative consultation, and provide expert viewpoints regarding the best options for vascular intervention for common emergency intra-operative consultation.

Program – Additionally, this program will highlight the role of vascular surgeons in managing catastrophic bleeding events and layout a framework for the approach to emergency intraoperative consultation by utilizing existing multidisciplinary models, available data and expert opinions.

Target Audience for Case Submission

Vascular surgeons in academic centers, private practice, and fellows/residents/trainees/students. 

Case Type of Interest

Incidents of intraoperative unexpected hemorrhagic events or catastrophic bleeding that required an intraoperative vascular surgery consultation. The emphasis would be on how control of bleeding was obtained and how the vascular injury was repaired (open or endovascularly). Imaging studies highlighting the injury or repair are recommended.
