Dr. Robyn Macsata was a respected vascular surgeon, educator, and mentor whose unwavering commitment to excellence and passion for teaching left a lasting impact on the field. A steadfast advocate for women in surgery, she inspired countless physicians to pursue their goals with confidence, integrity, and purpose. Her mentorship extended far beyond the operating room, empowering trainees and colleagues alike to find their voice, embrace their strengths, and contribute meaningfully to the advancement of vascular surgery.

The Association of Program Directors in Vascular Surgery (APDVS), the SVS Women’s Section, and the Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS) Foundation are proud to announce the establishment of the Robyn Macsata Lectureship, which will debut at the 2026 APDVS Annual Meeting.

This distinguished lectureship honors Dr. Macsata’s life and legacy, celebrating her extraordinary influence as a teacher, mentor, and leader. It reflects her enduring dedication to excellence in education, patient care, and the development of the next generation of vascular surgeons.

The Macsata Lectureship will be presented annually at the APDVS meeting to recognize and celebrate exceptional contributions to education, mentorship, and innovation in vascular surgery. The inaugural lecture will be delivered by Patricia L. Turner, MD, MBA, FACS, a general surgeon with expertise in minimally invasive surgery and the Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the American College of Surgeons (ACS).

As the first named lectureship established within the APDVS, this initiative—created in partnership with the SVS Women’s Section and supported in part by the SVS Foundation—strengthens the Society’s long-standing tradition of honoring outstanding achievement in vascular surgery, education, and research.
