For more than four decades, Dr. Enrico Ascher has stood as one of the most influential figures in vascular surgery — a visionary leader, educator and innovator whose passion for excellence has shaped the specialty worldwide. Known for his pioneering spirit and his ability to inspire others to think boldly, Dr. Ascher has devoted his career to advancing patient care, mentoring the next generation of surgeons, and fostering a culture of creativity and collaboration within the vascular community. His enduring impact reaches far beyond his own achievements, living on through the countless surgeons and innovators he has guided and inspired.

In recognition of his extraordinary contributions and his unwavering commitment to innovation, the Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS) Foundation is proud to announce the establishment of the Enrico Ascher Vascular Innovation Institute, set to launch at the 2026 Vascular Annual Meeting in Boston. Created through the generous support of the Ascher family, the Institute stands as a living tribute to Dr. Ascher’s lifelong mission to push boundaries, embrace new ideas and elevate the field of vascular surgery.

The naming of the Institute honors a lifetime dedicated to advancing the art and science of vascular surgery. It celebrates Dr. Ascher’s vision — one that has always united creativity, leadership and compassion — and his belief that progress begins when surgeons are empowered to innovate fearlessly.

The Enrico Ascher Vascular Innovation Institute will carry forward that legacy by fostering the same spirit of curiosity and ingenuity that has defined Dr. Ascher’s remarkable career. Through mentorship, collaboration and education, it will nurture the next generation of vascular innovators and ensure that his influence continues to guide the specialty for decades to come.

The SVS Foundation is deeply grateful for the generous support of Drs. Enrico and Natalie Ascher, whose vision and philanthropy have made this enduring tribute possible.
