VAM25 Education Session Proposals

Education Sessions cover a wide range of clinical and non-clinical topics relevant to SVS members and attendees. These sessions, comprising nearly 50% of daily programming, cater to diverse age groups and practice settings through various formats, including small group lectures, case-based courses, hands-on activities, and innovative approaches.

About the Call

  • Submissions can be from individuals, on behalf of SVS committees, councils and tasks and those from affiliate societies.
  • Proposals submitted outside the online process will not be considered or reviewed.
  • Submission does not guarantee acceptance.
  • The primary contact will be notified by the end of September if their proposal has been selected.
  • The deadline for submission is 3 p.m. CT, Wednesday, Aug. 28.

New for VAM25

We will ask proposed sessions to have a full speaker and presentation list which will be required to submit their proposals in addition to the previous submission fields. Please see the detailed instructions below for the full proposal task list (Authors and Outline are new tasks required for VAM25):

Education Session Proposal: Task Instructions

Post-Selection

If a proposal is chosen for inclusion in the VAM program, submitters are required to:

  • Collaborate with the PGEC on the development and delivery of the proposed sessions, and adherence to all meeting requirements.
  • Co-moderate their proposed session alongside a moderator selected from the PGEC. The PGEC moderator helps to coordinate the final agenda, supports faculty selection, and ensures no duplication of session content with other sessions occurring at the VAM.

Content for the VAM is delivered in three forms:

  • Scientific/Abstract Sessions/Plenary Sessions/How I Do It Session - Abstracts are intended primarily for the presentation of scientific research in various topic areas.
    • These sessions occur during the morning session of the meeting.
    • Abstract submission opens in November of each year.
  • Education Sessions - The VAM Education Sessions occur in programs of varying sizes, taking formats such as small group interactive lectures, case-based courses, hands-on, and innovative/non-didactic approaches.
    • These sessions occur as breakfast sessions and in the afternoon. They run concurrently to other Educational Sessions.
    • There are no restrictions on who submits these proposals. Committees/volunteer groups can submit multiple high-quality proposals.
    • Educational proposal submissions open in July of each year.
  • Invited/Named Presentations -There are annually three invited/named sessions that occur during the VAM. They include the rotation of the Crawford Forum, Greenberg Lecture, Homans Lecture, and Veith Lecture. The topics for the invited sessions are selected by the SVS Leadership.
