Overview
The largest clinical area for vascular surgeons in the United States is the treatment of patients with peripheral arterial disease (PAD). Designed by vascular surgeons for vascular surgeons, the SVS Complex Peripheral Vascular Intervention (CPVI) Skills Course will support attendees to become familiar with the latest innovations and techniques in treating patients with PAD. This 2-day course is comprised of didactics, case-based learning, and extensive hands-on training that gives vascular surgeons the opportunity to practice the latest procedures on cadavers and benchtop models during small-group simulations.
Some of the focus areas covered are:
- Retrograde tibial & pedal access
- Pedal loop imaging and techniques
- Deep venous arterialization
- IVUS axial imaging
- Atherectomy devices
- Aspiration/peripheral thrombectomy catheters
- Reentry devices
- Closure devices
PLEASE NOTE: Fluoroscopic procedures utilizing c-arms will be performed during the hands-on training of the course. Attendees will be provided with lead aprons and thyroid shields at stations where fluoroscopic procedures will be performed.
Learning Objectives
By participating in this CME activity, the learner will be able to:
- Review guidelines for the treatment of PAD including the recent Global Vascular Guidelines.
- Apply novel and advanced endovascular technologies for long-segment recanalization, angioplasty, atherectomy and other treatments for extensive atherosclerosis using benchtop models and simulation.
- Discuss gaps in outcomes data for CLTI and generate viable research steps to address these gaps.
Who Should Attend
Vascular surgeons who wish to remain current in the specialty of vascular surgery and endovascular therapy. This course is ideal for vascular trainees, vascular fellows, and vascular surgeons as the level of the content is intermediate to advanced.

Cancellation Policy
All cancellations for the event must be submitted in writing via email to svsmeetings@vascularsociety.org by August 18, 2023. Cancellations received by August 18 will receive a full refund, less a $50 administrative fee. Cancellations received after August 18, are non-refundable. All refunds will be processed after the course.
