Progress from the SVS PAC
March 24, 2022
I just wanted to give an update on an SVS PAC virtual meeting held today with Rep. Dr. Ami Bera from CA. Dr. Bera is one of our SVS "Hero's in the House." Dr. Bera understands our dilemmas and issues better than most, and he is our friend in Congress. He is a co-author of a letter (Bera-Bucshon letter) which was sent to the House of Representative leadership in 2021 urging bi-partisan solutions to mitigate the cuts which were intended to take effect on January 1, 2022. That letter was successful in helping to mitigate some of the cuts but not all of them.
We discussed that exact issue today with 10 SVS PAC Members and other interested SVS members from California joining in on the call. It was a great call because we came away with an unexpected prize as result of the discussion. Dr. Bera offered us, the SVS, the opportunity to be a part of a round-table in-person discussion with other members of Congress to discuss our primary legislative issues and topics which we have been facing acutely over the past 3 years as well as long-standing chronic issues that have been building over the past 20-25 years. This is a great opportunity to get our messages to the politicians and be heard in Washington DC with a loud and clear voice. Thanks to Jill Rathbun from Gallileo Group, our long-time SVS legislative/political consultant in Washington DC. She will help to orchestrate this event with SVS Executive Leadership and SVS Advocacy Council Leadership. SVS Advocacy Works!
This is a great win for all of us in the SVS! It reminds me that we need to stay focused and persistent, because in my personal and professional experience, persistence, focus and extreme ownership along with a never quit, never give-up attitude will always win out in the end.
I firmly believe we will win out in the end. Your SVS PAC and GRC committee members are committed to all SVS members and we will never stop working on your and your patients behalf until we have recaptured everything that has been taken away from us during the past 25 years.
Join the PAC and GRC and Grassroots Advocacy Movement. Donate to the PAC and get involved! You will find it empowering.

US health laws and payment models are undergoing a seismic shift.
