News from SVS | 'Tis the Season for Giving

Dec 05, 2016

The holiday season – the season of caring and goodwill, for giving -- is upon us. It’s the season where people reach out to help people in need, to help make the world a better place, to impact the future through donations of time, effort and money.

Annual appeals are underway for two important SVS entities: the SVS Foundation annual campaign and the SVS Political Action Committee.

SVS FoundationDonations to the SVS Foundation fund awards for critical clinical and basic research. These grants reflect, to an extent, the researchers and innovators who have gone before today’s SVS members, who developed new techniques or products and played pivotal roles in saving or improving the lives of vascular patients from the early days of the SVS to today.

Research grants open doors to a greater understanding of vascular disease and, ultimately, improved patient care.

Research has the potential to change the world by changing lives. Please consider a donation to the SVS Foundation. Contributions may be tax-deductible; members should consult their tax advisor for more definitive information. Donate today, and read the SVS Foundation Annual Report, at SVSFoundationsite.org.

SVS PAC

The SVS Political Action Committee works to impact the future legislatively. The PAC supports federal Congressional campaigns, helping SVS represent the interests of its members and their practices in federal policy-making activities.

SVS monitors and advocates for legislative and regulatory issues and collaborates with organizations working to impact similar surgical health care issues.

Most recently, SVS has advocated for change for the new Medicare physician payment program (see Washington Update story here) and continues to advocate on behalf of SVS members on a host of other issues.

“The current political atmosphere demands that we be engaged in the political process and the PAC is our voice,” said SVS PAC Steering Committee Chair Dr. Randall DeMartino. “It is our duty to our patients, and ourselves, to continue to support the SVS PAC."
