This course is specifically designed to provide 4th year medical students (who have matched into integrated vascular surgery residencies) with an opportunity to learn skills that will allow them to be functional on the floor and in the OR from their first day. This course covers a three-day period, where attendees will learn:
How to gown and scrub
Recognize instruments and devices
Place central lines
Master basic suturing techniques
Additionally, participants will learn algorithms for basic floor issues and emergencies. Live lectures will consist of:
Presenting cases on rounds in conferences
Understanding basic ultrasound principles
Learning radiation safety
This course is free and offers a stipend on a first-come first-serve basis for domestic out-of-town attendees (airfare and airport shuttle).
